Bought this incredible Schwinn 1960’s Collegiate women’s cruiser- all original hardware and chrome for $150.00 in Libertyville yesterday.
For kicks, I started research on my new friend (the bike’s name is now Cecil), and these guys actually resell for 600.00 plus in rusted out condition. Built in Chicago in the late 1950-60’s, these were the last bikes by the company to be made entirely of USA manufacturing.
It is built like a rock- and heavy as all get-out too. I was thrilled yesterday to have scored such a gem and took it for two rides; now a part of me doesn’t even want to ride it since it is a collectors item and in such beautiful shape.
Since it was made to pedal, though- I’m going for a lakeside cruise right…
